In this rapidly changing world while social media and usage patterns change, the child’s position is constantly changing as well. The next generation starts to become more digital than the previous one. The children who are born into the Internet and grown up in this environment are inevitably in this virtual network. Sharenting refers to a kind of parenting that is derived from the combination of the words “share” and “parenting” in English, where those types of parents constantly share the stories and the photos of their babies or children on social media. In this study, the concept of parents’ overuse of social media to share photos and activities of their children and the concept of sharenting will be discussed. The focus has been on the violations of the child’s right to privacy, which is performed by the parents on social media at the moment, and on violations of the child’s right to be forgotten in the frame of United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (1989) and the right to be forgotten.
