Outliers: Gifted but Lonely Adolescents

Abstract

By reviewing the related literature, this study aims to illuminate how the phenomenon of giftedness is reflected in learning environments and how it relates to loneliness. Thus, the study focuses on the way loneliness is experienced as a developmental process by gifted adolescents. The study reveals reasons for being lonely, the effects of loneliness on their lives, and how they cope with it. The significant role of learning environments in gifted adolescents' relationships with their peers is also discussed.
