Children in the Muslim Family and Responsibilities in Child Education

According to Islam, children are not only a blessing given to parents and society by Allah and a kindness of life, but also an examination for them. It is the duty of parents to prepare children who were born without any knowledge about life and to teach their religion. Children are the kindness of the life in this world,however, the life is temporary, and the important thing is to prepare for the afterlife. Therefore, children should be prepared for both this world and the afterlife. According to Islam, the family is sacred-being. Child education takes place in the best way in family institution. In this study, the duties of parents towards their children are summarized. The duties of the parents towards the child begin firstly with choosing a good spouse, asking Allah for a good child, having a good pregnancy period for the mother, and calling a good name. In addition to giving education to their children to survive and adapt to society, teaching their religion also plays an important role.
