Abstract

Hearing impairment in children can be congenital or acquired according to the onset time, and conductive, sensorineural or mixed type according to its location. 90% of hearing loss is of the sensorineural type. Early diagnosis, appropriate treatment and auditory rehabilitation program will be effective in preventing future language and speech problems as well as accompanying developmental disabilities. Therefore, national hearing screening programs for newborns and school-age children in our country are important for early diagnosis. In addition, infants/children at risk for hearing impairment should also be closely monitored and evaluated.
