Children’s literature is a literature that witnesses the childhood, being this witness without being alienated to childhood, in a childish sensation, with the language of a child, and again for the child. So, whatever is in the childhood is also in children’s literature. The experiences, perceptions, emotions, excitements and hopes of the child are also taking place in it. It has a structure that treats emotions of beauty and elegance in an aesthetical way; improving feelings of curiosity, wonder and admiration as well by its educational aspect, encouraging the pleasure of learning and discovering tendency. The childhood that is an “encounter” with the world, outstands by the desire to know, as in every encounter. There are questions and interests of a child concerning life. There are also metaphysical issues that take place in them. Children’s literature, as a form of writing that narrates childhood, certainly, enhances a cognitive and aesthetical demeanour in a way to see these questions. Every work that is produced in this domain is like the windows which open to why and how. There are this sentiments and perceptions as well among the features that characterize a work as profound and immortal.
Although metaphysics that is in an abstract construct inherently, is especially not suitable to early childhood period, nevertheless child cannot help but wonder metaphysical issues. There are the fundamental subjects too among the metaphysical issues child wants to learn. Wherever we look at it from, even though the world of the child is unfavourable to metaphysical perceptions, the encounter with the world of the intellect, raise metaphysical questions as well as the others. If we speak by also referring to Kant’s determination, these questions chiefly arise on the subjects of God, soul, universe and values. Every metaphysical sensation requires coming across with these questions and taking a stand to face them sooner or later. We will deal with the metaphysical sentimentality in children’s literature in this work and try to exemplify it in the book of poetry written by Fazıl Hüsnü Dağlarca entitled Child and Allah in the context of fundamental metaphysical issues.
